Drawtober 2020 – Folklore

Hey, hey! Oh man, there’s only two more prompts left after this one!

Prompt #4 for Drawtober is Folklore and I decided to get some inspiration from Indian traditions!

In the world of Kanakkhi & Co., the folklore is that the youthful Goddess Durga of the Harvest Season (called also as Katyayani – both names of & based on an actual Goddess from India!) walks through the fields in the early morning light, making the crops grow all golden and healthy! Her radiance in the sunrise is what lends the crops their golden aura.

In India, there are a lot of small shrines dedicated to Goddess Durga especially in villages and in South India, there are tiny shrines dedicated to Her in almost every street! They also call Her as Amman, or Divine Mother in a more close and casual way.

Happy Navaratri! And peace be with you ^.^

Drawtober 2020 – Midnight Feast

Hello again! It’s more Drawtober time! And this prompt (Midnight Feast) led to the creation of one of my most favorite pieces!

Sakhi and her big sister (who is also her soul sister) Akka love to read, all cozied up, late into the autumn nights under the starry skies on their porch. They enjoy a little feast of tea and leftover mooncakes! Nishtha, Akka’s familiar, loves to curl up along with them and listen as they read new and exciting stories each night….

Peace ^.^

Drawtober 2020 – Wicked Apothecary

Hello! And welcome back for more Drawtober goodness!

The second prompt is Wicked Apothecary. I took “wicked” to be as in “super cool!” or “pretty snazzy!” and not mean-spirited.

Here is Sakhi and Kai, seeing the magical apothecary Brinda work a cure for Kai’s seasonal cold!

Peace ^.^

Drawtober 2020 – Carvings

Hello!

Prompt #1 for Drawtober is Carvings.

And here is a very engrossed-in-carving Sakhi and her big bro overlooking her handiwork!

Drawtober 2020 – Harvest Festival!

Hello, hello!

It’s finally fall/autumn! And that also means… It’s October Art Madness Time!! Just kidding, just kidding.

This year I’m doing something a little different, which is taking part in Drawtober!

Drawtober is more relaxed as you do six prompts over a whole month vs 31 prompts. This year’s theme is Harvest Festival!

I knew I wanted to do something with my OCs as part of a slow (and by slow I mean real, real slow) reveal on what I’ve been working on in the shadows thus far.

So…. Here’s my lil’ introduction of Drawtober this year & the main team!

Drawtober 2020 Intro & Main Cast

I can’t wait to share more about them and the projects that involve them and my other OCs!

Drawtober Prompt #1 drops tomorrow so stay tuned!

Peace ^.^

P.S. Props to you if you get who they are named after in their last names!

Inktober 2019 – Week 4

Before anyone says anything…. Yes, I realize it is almost week 4 of November!!! And I have the guts to post about week 4 of Inktober (October)… What can I say? ^__^’ (heheh) (Edit: I procrastinated on posting this even more so it’s even more late to the end of November now…. But I needed to provide closure for Inktober!!!)

Week 4 for Inktober was painfully slow and due to work/school commitments, I crashed around Day 24 (not bad though! Almost made doodles for a month! It’s still a success in my book).

Here are the doodles (literally just two…wow) I liked from that week!:

Day 20: Tread – Just Sakhi splashing and treading about in magical puddles 🙂

Day 23: Ancient – Garuda is the current generation of the ancient Clan of Talons. All clan members have bird-of-prey wings and wear their hair up in a bun secured by a 5 feathers hair ornament.

Hope you enjoyed my little Inktober doodles! You bet I’ll be doing it again next year, too!

Till next time….

Peace ^.^
