Inktober 2019 – Week 4

Before anyone says anything…. Yes, I realize it is almost week 4 of November!!! And I have the guts to post about week 4 of Inktober (October)… What can I say? ^__^’ (heheh) (Edit: I procrastinated on posting this even more so it’s even more late to the end of November now…. But I needed to provide closure for Inktober!!!)

Week 4 for Inktober was painfully slow and due to work/school commitments, I crashed around Day 24 (not bad though! Almost made doodles for a month! It’s still a success in my book).

Here are the doodles (literally just two…wow) I liked from that week!:

Day 20: Tread – Just Sakhi splashing and treading about in magical puddles 🙂

Day 23: Ancient – Garuda is the current generation of the ancient Clan of Talons. All clan members have bird-of-prey wings and wear their hair up in a bun secured by a 5 feathers hair ornament.

Hope you enjoyed my little Inktober doodles! You bet I’ll be doing it again next year, too!

Till next time….

Peace ^.^

Inktober 2019 – Week 2 + Week 3

Hello! And I’m back with more Inktober doodles!

(Psst….I’m posting only the doodles I feel happy about so there might be a few days missing in between!)

Here is Week 2 + Week 3 doodles:

Inktober 2019 – Week 1

Heyo! It’s Inktober time!

While I’m posting Inktober drawings mostly everyday over on my Instagram (@inkychaidragon), I thought for blog purposes, I’d post weekly with all the drawings I did that week. This way I can take my time and talk more about each doodle and process as I like.

Without further ado, here are my Inktober doodles for Day 1 to Day 5!

Inktober 2018 – Day #12

Inktober 2018 – Day 12 — Blue Whale Pod

Today’s official prompt got me really excited because it’s one of my favorite subject…”whale”!!!

I absolutely love, love, love whales! They are so majestic and graceful. Their songs are so calming to listen to as well! (I say this and watch those songs translate into something not so calming and polite in whale language!)

I just took a really straight forward approach to the prompt and inked in some whales. I used a combination of traditional and digital media to create the piece. The line work is all traditional pens (and pencils for those rectangular background) and the coloring on the whales and the darkened rectangles are all done digitally.

There’s not really much for me to say about this piece other than that I had a really fun time coloring these cute ocean friends!

Day 13 is on its way! The Inktober struggle is real, man… (But fun, too!!!)

Peace ^.^

Inktober 2018 – Day #11

Inktober 2018 – Day 11 — The Librarian

Welcome to the second third of Inktober! I did not follow the official prompt for today and instead decided to do my own thing. Today’s piece is an original character (OC) of mine! The Librarian! She is Puppy Mage’s best friend and made her debut on Day 7! We only got a glimpse of her then hidden behind a tired Puppy Mage….But here she is now in her full glory!

The Librarian works at the Great Library, a huge, massive library located in the spirit realm somewhere along the Himalayas. She may look around 5 years old but in fact, she is millions of years old (almost as old as time itself)! While wary of any new individual, once she gets to know you, she has a very spunky, creative personality. This is her in her casual clothes (her work clothes are a whole lot more fancier!)

I absolutely adore this character of mine! I know I say that for pretty much every one of my OCs but I can’t help it! I love how cute it turned out and if you can’t tell yet, I am loving that night sky background look for my Inktober pieces.

As usual, the ink washes were painted in digitally along with the night sky background while the line art was all done traditionally. I know I said it’s kind of early to call whether I like this mixed media or not, but I think enough experimentation has been done in that I really like combining digital and traditional, especially for small pieces like this one!

Chugging onwards to Day 12!

Peace ^.^

Inktober 2018 – Day #10

Inktober 2018 – Day 10 — Like A Cloud

Holy smokes! We’re 1/3 of the way through Inktober! *throws anime glitter everywhere*

Today’s official prompt was “flowing” and I present to you…the Cloud Prince! (Yeah, I need to come up with actual names for all these original characters of mine…end of October is the time for that! *procrastinates like a pro on naming*)

The Cloud Prince is named as such because of the cloudy grey complexion he turns whenever it thunderstorms or rains where he’s at or anywhere in a 10 mile radius around him! Otherwise he is a brilliant yellowish gold with cloudy grey blushies! (You always need ’em blushies…) And in case you are wondering, yes, he is a part of the greater universe that Puppy Mage is a part of!

This character is kind of like a prototype for a secret project that I’m working on! I’ll make it not-so-secret once all the details (*cough* like naming *cough*) are settled. But I’m super hyped about how this piece turned out!

I knew I wanted to do something involving long, flowing hair and feathers for this prompt so it took a while before I said “Heck. I’ll go ahead and do some character prototyping.” I already knew this buddy had some nice, long flowing hair so hey, why not? Gave some fancy peacock feather earrings and put some cloud-like flow mood to the piece and bam! Oh, and some succulents because.

See you around for the next third of Inktober starting on Day 11!

Peace, my friends ^.^
